The second of seven Dodge special edition models honoring the end of current Challenger and Charger production is here. The Dodge Charger Super Bee is back for a curtain call as part of the automaker's Last Call for its enduring modern muscle machines.
The last time we saw Super Bee branding on the Dodge Charger was back in 2014. For 2023, Dodge says the new buzz-worthy Charger offers the highest level of performance ever seen in a Super Bee, packing the V8 punch from the Charger Scat Pack with standard street-legal drag tires for having fun at the strip. To refresh your memory, Scat Pack models feature the naturally aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi making 485 horsepower (362 kilowatts), sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Super Bee will only be offered on 2023 Charger Scat Pack trims.

While there are no changes to the engine, the Super Bee does get the aforementioned drag radials for grip at the strip. On the regular Scat Pack Super Bee, the tires are 275s mounted on 20-inch wheels. The Scat Pack Widebody actually gets smaller 18-inch wheels but wider 315 rubber. The Charger's adaptive suspension features a drag mode, and in keeping with an old-school muscle car theme, Dodge adds an SRT hood with functional scoops and hood pins. Black exhaust tips exit the rear, and behind the wheels you'll see red Brembo brakes.
Naturally, you can't have a special edition model without graphics and badges. The 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee is easily identified by a badge in the grille and bee badges on the front fenders. If you miss those, you likely won't miss the graphics on the hood or the bold stripes on the back doors and quarter panels, the latter of which actually say Super Bee. Moving inside, there are more Super Bee logos on the seat backs and a badge for the instrument panel.
As with the Challenger Shakedown special edition, Dodge will only build 1,000 Super Bees in total. 500 will be Scat Pack models with a B5 Blue exterior. The other 500 will be in Scat Pack Widebody spec painted Plum Crazy. Pricing will be announced when order banks open later in the fall.
From here on out, Dodge will debut a new Last Call Charger or Challenger every Wednesday until the six main models are revealed. The seventh and final debut will take place at the 2022 SEMA show.
