It’s almost time for team golf that actually matters.
For a week, the game can forget about team names that closely resemble comic-book action blurbs and get back to why we love these events in particular. Winning for country.
The 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club is set to kick off Thursday with five foursomes matches.

The United States squad, led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, is a heavy favorite to win at -847, while it’s -1205 to raise the cup.
Since there’s very little value in placing a bet on the home-country team, let’s take a look at some interesting prop bets for the week in North Carolina.

Best bet: Top U.S. rookie
It’s tough to bet against the world No. 1 in this category. Not only has he played high-level golf for the last seven months, but his team-event debut at last year’s Ryder Cup was fantastic — he took down then-world No. 1 Jon Rahm in Sunday singles.
Odds: +240
Max Homa is in form, fresh off the heels of his fifth PGA Tour win at the Fortinet Championship — his second straight in Napa.
This will be Homa’s team-event debut, but his consistent game and electric personality should shine in the atmosphere in Charlotte.
He won the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship — an event held at Quail Hollow Club.
Odds: +400
Best bet: Top American
Xander Schauffele played four matches in the 2021 Ryder Cup and collected three points — he lost to Rory McIlroy in Sunday singles.
He has a style of game that fits both four-ball and foursomes, so expect him to play in at least four of the sessions, if not all of them. The 28-year-old is expected to play with best buddy Patrick Cantlay all week, so he’ll be extremely comfortable on the course — the pair won the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
He tied for third at the BMW Championship and finished solo fourth at the Tour Championship in his last two starts. In 2021, Schauffele tied for 14th at the Wells Fargo.
Odds: +650
