The New York Giants have selected Kayvon Thibodeaux, an offensive tackle from the University of Oregon, with pick No. 5 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Thibodeaux is one of this year’s premier edge prospects, joining Travon Walker and Aidan Hutchinson as the top defensive linemen coming out of college.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds with moderate-sized arms with a length of 33-1/8 inches, Thibodeaux is an elite athlete at the defensive end position. However, the one knock on the Oregon product is that he relies too much on his power and athleticism making while his skill lags behind.
Thibodeaux is still a raw prospect at the defensive end position but this has not stopped him from seeing success at every stop in his football career. He was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2018 recruiting cycle and won multiple honors at Oregon.
The 2021 Unanimous All-American and two-time First-team All-Pac-12 defensive end has been a force to be reckoned with in college 19 sacks over three seasons.
Thibodeaux’s ability to change the game at the defensive end position and his opportunity to improve with additional skill will make him an amazing asset for Big Blue. The Giants are in desperate need of some pass rush and hopefully, Thibodeaux is that answer.
