After a surprisingly frantic Spanish GP, F1 completes its latest double-header with a return to Monaco where home hero Charles Leclerc will be looking to bounce back after retiring from the lead in Barcelona due to a Ferrari turbo and MGU-H failure.
Leclerc’s disappointment was compounded by Max Verstappen recovering from a spin and a DRS issue to take victory in the Spanish GP and with it the F1 world championship lead for the first time this season. Verstappen now heads the standings by six points from Leclerc, while Red Bull also tops the F1 world constructors’ championship by 26 points from Ferrari.
The Monegasque will be hoping to finish his home F1 race for the first time in his career, having retired in 2018 and 2019 while failing to start last year’s race from pole. Leclerc also suffered poor luck in Monaco earlier this month at the historic grand prix, when he had brake failure and crashed the ex-Niki Lauda 1974 Ferrari 312B3 on a demonstration run.
Meanwhile, Mercedes will be hoping to maintain its car improvements from Spain having almost completely solved its porpoising problem with its upgrades, as George Russell secured a podium finish for the German manufacturer in Barcelona.
With F1 enjoying a fresh surge in popularity this year and bumper crowds at each race, all eyes will be on the championship’s most famous race and how the new generation of cars will take to the tight and twisty Monte Carlo streets.

How can I watch Formula 1?
In the United Kingdom Formula 1 is only broadcast live on Sky Sports, with highlights shown on Channel 4 several hours after the race has finished. Live streaming through NOW is also available in the UK.
Sky Sports F1, which broadcasts the F1 races, can be added as part of the Sky Sports channels which costs £20 a month for new customers. Sky Sports can also be accessed through NOW with a one-off day payment of £11.98p or a month membership of £33.99p per month.

Monaco is set for warm and cloudy conditions throughout the race weekend, with dry conditions on Friday and Saturday but a fair chance of rain on Sunday. Highs of 23 degrees Celsius are predicted on Sunday for the start of the race, 13 degrees cooler than the Spanish GP last time out.
