2008 Celtics champ Scot Pollard reveals he is waiting for a heart donor

Former Boston Celtics big man Scot Pollard is a survivor — and not just because of his stint on the popular reality television show of the same name. Not only has the 2008 champion center been dealing with a heart condition that has had him in and out of the hospital, but he has also had to put up with a bizarre conspiracy theory that he is faking the ailment.

The Kansas alum recently took to social media to draw back the curtain on his ordeal, his wife even weighing in on his condition to (hopefully) silence the doubters pushing the narrative Pollard is making it all up.

“Ever been on a heart transplant list and then have someone say you’re faking it?” he asked via Larry Brown Sports’ Darryn Albert. “It’s super weird.”

“Have a nice Wednesday everyone!” he added, showing an image of himself being treated in a hospital bed. “This photo is from a while back when I was in the emergency heart center, keeping my fake story straight. I’m home now waiting for a donor.”

“3 failed heart ablations, pacemaker/defibrillator, all the drugs and side effects, heart biopsies, heart catheter tests, CT/MRI scans, countless (vials) of blood taken, ER trips, myocarditis, pericarditis-all over the past 3 years…and now heart transplant list,” shared his wife Dawn in another post. “Yep, fake story.”

While he may not have played in the postseason of the 2007-08 NBA season, Pollard was an important part of the bench that helped win the Celtics’ first title since the Larry Bird era.

The 6-foot-11 big man also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, and Sacramento Kings after four years at Kansas, where he played with future Boston teammate Paul Pierce.

After his playing career ended, he of course stared in season 32 of “Survivor” — but needs a donor to remain one. We wish him luck.
