20 deals could be completed before AFL trade deadline

Up to 20 deals could still be completed in the final three days of the AFL's trade period.

Free agents Ben McKay, Jade Gresham and Tom Doedee made big moves last week, but trades between clubs could be about to heat up from Monday.

Brisbane forward Jack Gunston is seeking a trade back to Hawthorn, where he won three premierships, after just one season with the Lions.

Gunston has one year left to run on his contract with this year's beaten grand finalists, who have confirmed his desire to return to Hawthorn.

After suffering a knee injury late in the season, the 31-year-old was unable to break back into the Lions' team even as he became available ahead of the preliminary final.

The Hawks shape as one of the busiest teams this week as they attempt to lure contracted Gold Coast forward Mabior Chol on a long-term deal.

Chol is contracted to the Suns until the end of 2025 but fell out of favour this year and spent long periods in the VFL.

Tall forward Jacob Koschitzke wants out of the Hawks and has requested a trade to Richmond.

Geelong are holding firm on not letting versatile defender Esava Ratugolea go to Port Adelaide.

The Cats knocked back an offer of pick 25 for the out-of-contract Ratugolea, who would head to the national draft if a deal isn't completed before deadline.

The Power loom as one of the major players to end the trade period, with Essendon's Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordon Sweet requesting trades to Alberton.

Port also could have to facilitate trades away from the club for Xavier Duursma (Essendon) and Orazio Fantasia, who has met with GWS.

Fremantle's Lachie Schultz is desperate for a move to Collingwood, but the Dockers are not prepared to let the contracted forward go without receiving significant compensation.
