JAKARTA: A high-speed electric passenger train and an inspection train, made in China and customised for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project, arrived in the Jakarta Port from China's Qingdao Port on Thursday.

The arrival of the trains symbolises another milestone for the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR. It was also the first time that high-speed trains made in China were exported to another country.

Designed and manufactured by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co with the advanced technology of the Fuxing bullet train, the trains have a maximum operating speed of 350 kilometres per hour and were designed and manufactured according to Chinese standards.

They were also adapted to the operating environment and line conditions in Indonesia.

Ten more trains are scheduled to be transported from China to Indonesia in batches by early 2023.

The Jakarta-Bandung project built with Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of Indonesia's West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes.
