Daily Covid hospitalisations rise to 2,125, deaths to 18

There were 18 more Covid-19 fatalities and 2,125 new cases admitted to hospitals on Monday, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Tuesday.

This compared with 17 deaths and 1,814 admissions to hospitals on Sunday, as reported on Monday.

As of midnight Monday night, a total of 22,341 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 22,735 the previous day), including 11,192 in hospitals (up from 10,974). Among the remainder, 736 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (up from 684) and 10,389 in home/community isolation (down from 11,053).

Of those in hospital, 803 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 794), with 378 dependent on ventilators (up from 369).

The 24-hour period also saw 2,501 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.

All the 2,125 new cases were transmitted inside Thailand. Aside from four infected prison inmates, they were members of the general public.

Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,562,968 Covid-19 cases, including 2,339,533 this year, with 4,509,596 complete recoveries to date.

The accumulated death toll stood at 31,031 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 9,333 so far this year.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 637,263 in 24 hours to 568.58 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,128 to 6.39 million.

The United States had the most cases at 91.43 million, up 58,177, and the most deaths at 1.05 million, up 149.
