Ate ice cream from Nicholls

If somebody mentions Parkgate, we can guarantee Nicholls ice cream parlour will pop into your head. There’s no better way to spend a sunny day than sitting on Parkgate front overlooking Wales while enjoying a homemade ice cream from Nicholls. We can’t resist the creamy mint choc chip!

Walked around West Kirby Marine Lake

The walk around West Kirby Marine Lake is perfect if you fancy a leisurely stroll in the sea air. As well as the stunning views, the smell of the salty sea and the feel of the cool breeze on your skin makes for a relaxing, refreshing walk.

Walked over to Hilbre Island and stressed about the tide coming in

To extend your walk around the marine lake, you can head across the beach to Hilbre Island and look out for seals. No matter how many times you’ve walked over to Hilbre, there will always be a part of you that stresses about the tide coming in and trapping you on the island.

Sat on West Kirby front and devoured fish and chips from Marigolds

Sticking with West Kirby, the town is home to arguably the best chippy in Wirral. There’s nothing better than tucking into a fish supper while sitting on a bench on West Kirby front watching the sunset.

Braved Birkenhead Market on a Saturday

Birkenhead market has everything you could possibly need, including food and drink, clothing, home furnishings, technology and more, so it’s no surprise that 99% of the time, it’s absolutely packed on a Saturday. We know it's going to be rammed and will more than likely complain, but sometimes visiting on a Saturday is our only option!

Got competitive during a game of mini golf in New Brighton

Walked up to Thor’s rock in Thurstaston

Thor’s Rock (or Stone, to some people) is hidden within the woodland area of Thurstaston Common, but once found, the huge sandstone boulder is a sight to behold.

Taken a ferry across the Mersey

The best way to see our glorious paradise peninsula and Liverpool is by taking a ferry across the Mersey. As well as being popular with tourists, it’s a must for locals.

Picked strawberries at Claremont Farm in Bebington

Yes, we can visit any supermarket and buy strawberries, but it’s much more fun exploring Claremont Farm’s huge fruit fields and picking your own. It’s also easy to turn it into a friendly competition - who can fill their punnet with the most strawberries in a set time?

Tucked into a Chinese banquet at Chows Eating House

The Parkgate restaurant is arguably the best Chinese in Wirral with a variety of banquets on offer. Whether it’s for a special occasion or you just fancy treating yourself, Chows is the place to go!

Climbed up Bidston Hill to take in the views

Due to being one of the highest points in Wirral with incredible views over to Liverpool, climbing up Bidston Hill is a must. Whether you’ve done it once or multiple times, the view from the top is always worth the climb. The heathland surrounding the hill has lots to offer, too, with there being numerous historic buildings and ancient rock carvings.

Got lost in the Brimstage Maize Maze

It’s not summer if you haven’t explored the giant maze and found yourself in a pickle. No matter how hard you concentrate, you will get lost, even if it’s just for a moment or two until you retrace your steps.

Watched a firework display at one of Wirral’s stunning parks

One of the many things Wirral is great at is putting on a spectacular firework display. Parks and schools across the peninsula will light up the sky, with many also offering delicious food and drinks to warm you up.

Walked along the Wirral Way

Some people will have walked the full length of the Wirral Way from West Kirby to Hooton, while others will have completed smaller sections. The path, which is a former railway track, is also ideal for jogging, running and cycling, so if you’ve done one of those instead of walking, we’ll let you off!

Watched a show at the Floral Pavilion

New Brighton’s theatre has a mix of plays, comedy, music and children's entertainment, including a Christmas pantomime each year. As there’s something for everyone, it would come as a surprise if you’ve never visited.

Had a leisurely stroll around Birkenhead Park

As one of Wirral’s biggest and most beautiful parks, you’d be missing out if you haven’t visited it before, especially as it’s said to have influenced Central Park in New York. There are many paths and areas to explore, a play area and a Visitor Centre with a café.

Driven through the Mersey tunnel

Whether you’ve driven through yourself or been a passenger, travelling along the Birkenhead Queensway or Wallasey Kingsway tunnel is a thrill. If you're a Harry Potter fan, we bet you can’t help but point out that one of the tunnels features in the Deathly Hallows film every time you drive through.

Explored Gordale garden centre at Christmas

A trip to Gordale at Christmas is nearly as exciting as the big day itself. Christmas trees of all sizes and colours, twinkling fairy lights everywhere you look, and a huge display of hundreds of different baubles. It’s certainly the place to go for all of your Christmas decoration needs.
