NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl who had gone for a drive with three men last week in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Vihar was allegedly sexually assaulted by the trio. Based on the survivor’s statement, a case has been registered and all three men were arrested.
On July 8, police got information from Safdarjung Hospital that a girl had been brought there and her medical examination had revealed that she was reportedly sexually assaulted. A police team met the survivor’s family, who alleged that three men had raped her.
“The girl’s parents said that around 8.30pm on July 6, the girl had left her house with three men, two of them known to her, in a WagonR car. Around 7 the next morning, the three men dropped her back. The girl then told her parents that the three men had raped her in the car, after which the family approached police,” said DCP (Southwest) Manoj C.
Investigation revealed that the four had gone towards Mahipalpur in the car, where they bought liquor and drank while driving around. “The men took the car to a secluded spot and allegedly sexually assaulted the girl. She claimed in her statement that first one of the men known to her kissed her, after which the other two raped her. She was medically examined and a case under Pocso Act and IPC Section 376 for rape was registered at Vasant Vihar police station. Following a raid, the three men, aged 23, 25 and 35 years, were arrested. The WagonR car used in the alleged crime has been seized,” said an officer.
Police said the girl had no external injuries. “Further investigation to establish the sequence of events is in progress,” the officer said.
