CHENNAI: Blame it on underestimation of original cost, spiralling land acquisition costs, shortage of manpower, changes in project scope, monopolistic pricing by vendors of equipment services, general price rise/inflation and time overrun, the Union government has listed 16 infrastructure projects suffering cost overruns in Tamil Nadu.
They include projects being implemented by the railways, petroleum, road transport and highways and power ministries for several years. The cost overrun ranges up to 491% in a case.
