CHICAGO — A 15-year-old girl was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being shot in the Washington Heights neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
The shooting happened around 12:51 a.m. at 10611 S. Sangamon St.
Demea Morris, 15, was sitting in the back seat of a car with a gunshot wound in the back of her head when police responded to the shooting. The Chicago Fire Department brought her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead around 1:22 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
No one is in custody. Detectives are investigating.
