15 free agent and practice squad running backs Broncos could sign

After losing starting running back Javonte Williams to season-ending ACL and LCL injuries, the Denver Broncos will likely add at least one more running back to the 53-man roster this week.

The top in-house candidate to replace Williams would have been Melvin Gordon before Gordon fumbled against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. After that, Denver turned to third-string running back Mike Boone following Williams’ injury.

It remains to be seen if the Broncos will be willing to go back to Gordon now that Williams is out for the year. If not, Boone could see a huge uptick in carries in the coming weeks.

Denver also has Devine Ozigbo available on the practice squad, and the Broncos might consider signing a running back off another team’s practice squad. Denver will also obviously look to the free agent market.

Here’s a quick list of some of the free agent and practice squad running backs the Broncos might consider signing after Williams’ injury.
