If you want a holiday with the kids, you don't have to go camping or opt for self-catering cottages. Wales is home to some amazing hotels, and many of them cater for kids with spacious rooms, swimming pools or baby-sitting services.

Why? It may be the height of luxury but that doesn't mean kids aren't welcome at the famous resort.
There are family rooms which offer cots and children's beds and you can get a connecting room so they - and you - can have some space.
There are children's menus available at The Grill, The Olive Tree, PAD, Merlins, Rafters, The Rib Smokehouse and Grill and the Newbridge on Usk.
If you want some time to relax and unwind, there is a nanny service available, to keep the kids entertained and you can also leave them to enjoy sessions at Dylan's Den.
Kids certainly won't get bored with activities like Forest Jump, Forest Nets, On Target, Adventure Golf or Laser Combat. And among the events during the school holidays are the inflatable course All Bounced Out.
2. The Stradey Park Hotel

Why? If you are looking for a welcoming family-friendly hotel at the gateway between the Gower Peninsula and the Carmarthenshire coast and beyond then the Stradey Park is for you.
Whilst there is limited outdoor space, the reception areas of the hotel provide plenty of comfortable sofas for all the family. There are both family rooms and interconnecting family rooms with extra cushions and furry throws for the children to flop into after a busy day out.
Parents can watch TV or plug their i-Pod or i-Phone into the alarm clock docking station and listen to music in one room, whilst the children can enjoy the TV or X-box in the next. Babysitting services by local NNEB nurses, registered with social services can be arranged and cots/Z beds for under 12s are also available as well as family picnics if you are venturing out for the day.
3. Trefeddian Hotel

Why? This was the winner of Best Loved Hotel's Bring The Kids Award and the Good Hotel Guide Editor's Choice 'Family Hotel' Award for 2022 if your kids love spending the day building sandcastles or paddling in the water, this hotel is a lovely place for families.
The hotel has a range of family rooms and superior rooms that can sleep up to two adults and four children. Most of the hotel bedrooms are large enough to accommodate an extra bed or cot for littles ones.
The hotel provides a complementary child listening service which works throughout the hotel, enabling parents the luxury of dining alone relaxing in the knowledge that little ones are safely tucked up in bed.
There is also an early children's super menu specially created for little ones or children can dine with parents as well as an outdoor play area, swimming pool, a games room and indoor play area with board games and snooker tables. Children aged up to nine years old also go free at the hotel.
4. Wolfscastle Country Hotel

Why? Whether you’re looking for a quiet relaxing holiday or something a bit more active and adventurous, this hotel has plenty to offer. There are excellent local walks from the hotel including a stroll through Sealyham Woods leading to the Sealyham Outdoor pursuits centre, offering many activities for children.
Many of the rooms also cater for families with extra beds in the room or sofa beds and travel cots. There is also a children's menu available in the bar.
5. Llys Meddyg

Why? Llys Meddyg offers family-friendly accommodation and is a brilliant base for families to explore and discover Newport and surrounds. It welcomes families and knows only too well that little ones need flexibility so they are happy to warm bottles and food, and to prepare simple child-friendly meals if requested in advance.
Every room has a fridge for storing your own supplies. They can provide travel cots and a bottom sheet and are also happy to arrange baby sitting. Baby monitors work from all the bedrooms to the restaurant and cellar bar, but you might feel more comfortable only using these if you are staying in the main house.
Room 1, Room 3 and Room 6 all have sofa beds that can sleep up to two and are therefore the best options for a larger family. If you want more space then Room 6 and Room 7 are opposite each other in the mews building.
6. Pale Hall

Why? Situated very close to the Snowdonia National Park, Pale Hall provides the perfect location for families to explore the gorgeous surroundings. There are adjoining bedrooms available, cots and Z-beds are available and there is a babysitting service you can book in advance.
Food menus can be adapted for children and there are board games to enjoy in the library. There are also four Shetland ponies on site, Bernie, Bertie, Crunchy and Jet, which children can visit.
7. The Stackpole Inn

Why? Set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, this is a cosy and perfect destination to explore Stackpole Quay and Barafundle Bay. The four fabulous, newly-renovated high quality king size en-suite rooms are on two levels, two downstairs and two upstairs.
Two of these rooms also have double pull out sofa beds, making them ideal family rooms for up to four persons. With so many attractions on its doorstep, it's a fab place to take the kids.
8. Parkway Hotel and Spa

Why? This hotel is perfect to visit as a family. With a dedicated area for children, that has a cosy snug, TV, DVDs and a games room there is plenty to keep children entertained.
High chairs, cots and baby listening devices are available and parents have use of a fridge and microwave. High teas are served for children at 6pm and the main menu can be adapted so children can dine with their parents past 6pm.
10. The Grove

Why? Families with children of all ages are made to feel very welcome at The Grove. Set amidst 26 glorious acres of beautiful gardens, woodland and rolling countryside, The Grove of Narberth is the perfect luxury retreat for families.
They have outdoor games, including boules and croquet, to enjoy and local walks from the house include a stroll to find an Iron Age Settlement or a bike ride through Canaston Woods. There's also the amazing beaches on the doorsteps as well as Pembrokeshire attractions like Folly Farm.
The master suite, Daniel & Elizabeth, can be reserved along with an adjoining twin room, to provide a family suite located on a private floor within the main house of the hotel. Baby kits can also be provided on request so that your room is equipped with travel cot with sheet, baby bath, changing mat and nappy bin.
When it comes to eating, families with kids under the age of 12 are invited to eat before 7pm and vacate the table by 8pm. They can also provide you with a CRB checked childminder.
