A 14-year-old student at Apalachee High School recently shared her harrowing experience during the tragic mass shooting that took place on Wednesday. The student, identified as Bri Jones, revealed that if she had opened the classroom door at that moment, the suspect would have potentially harmed everyone in the class.
According to Jones, she was in her second-period class when the suspect, Colt Gray, abruptly left the room without anyone noticing. Gray later returned and knocked on the door, prompting Jones to exercise caution before opening it. Thanks to a habit instilled by her mother, Jones hesitated and noticed Gray pulling out a gun. She quickly realized the danger and refrained from opening the door, a decision that potentially saved lives.
Despite the teacher's request to open the door, Jones intervened, warning about the presence of a gun. Moments later, the shooter, after briefly making eye contact with Jones and her teacher, began firing shots in the hallway. In response, the students in the class rushed to the back while the teacher turned off the lights to seek safety.
