£14 Primark heels compared to Versace pair at £1,000 as shoppers share love for the shoes

If you have a love for shoes then Primark's latest addition may spark your interest. Some commentators are even comparing the style to that of a big designer name.

Pictures of the £14 heels were posted on the retailer's Instagram page. The glamourous strappy numbers soon sparked masses of interest.

To date, more than 12,000 people have liked the post, which only surfaced three days ago. Alongside a picture of two pairs of shoes - one in black, the other in tan, Primark wrote: "Tonight's shoe decision. Heels £14/€18/$20 #Primark #InStoreNow".

Fans of the store were quick to comment. "Wow, they're both gorgeous", commented one person. "These are cute!" said another, while a third said simply: "Love these".

And it wasn't just wish list comments that came rolling in, others had already splashed the cash. "I've bought the black ones and they're SO stunning!", said one shopper. While another added: "I've bought these in the black, very comfy, I want them in the tan too". A third said: "Got them last week. Worn um last night. Lots of compliments".

The similarity between these shoes and the £1,000 Versace pair was first highlighted by Liverpool Echo. It said: "Primark is famed for its low-cost fashion and often brings out products that are ‘dupes’ of far more expensive items".

It went on to say: "Primark’s heels cost £14 a pair, but the style is similar to Versace’s Medusa Chain Leather sandals, which come in a range of colours including black, gold, pink, blue and white. These retail for between £980 and £1,100."

The copycat shoes feature a crossover ankle strap and gold chain detail across the toes. The Versace pair feature a similar chain detail across the toes, but also on the ankle strap. They also have more of a stiletto heel, compared to Primark’s chunkier style heel. Of course, materials differ from the designer brand, too.
