13 ways to stay cool at night that actually work in hot weather

The UK is in the middle of a sustained period of hot weather which has led to warnings to keep children out of the sun and forecasts of temperatures as high as 36 ° C by the end of the coming week.

Crowds flocked to the coast on the weekend, causing long delays on some roads, and there's plenty more hot weather to come. Wales will see temperatures pushing 30°C on Monday, while in London, the BBC is currently forecasting temperatures of 36°C next weekend.

And while this is brilliant news for many people keen to make the most of dry, warm weather to enjoy the outdoors, for others the warm weather means only one thing: insomnia. Experts say the best temperature for people to sleep at is between 15-20°C. With the mercury climbing some people's bedrooms are not even close to this.
