£13.5m contract wins set northern Lincolnshire construction firm up for strong start to the year

Two significant industrial design and build contracts have made for a bright start to 2023 for Cube3 Construction.

The North Killingholme-based business is building a 13,000 sq m warehouse facility for a neighbouring client on Lancaster Approach, while also delivering new industrial park featuring 22 units in Nottinghamshire. The latter, an £8.5 million project, will see four steel framed buildings split for light industrial and commercial use at Watnall, just off Junction 26 of the M1.

Cube3 will deliver all key civils including roads and services, with work starting at the end of the month.

Back home, and the addition for an existing operator will provide increased storage capacity in the regional logistics sector in what is a £5 million contract.

Tony Quirke, director, said: “Both jobs have been awarded in the past month, and it makes for a very strong start to the year. There’s clearly a recession coming - we’ve had a lot of enquiries from local labour about opportunities - winning this work puts us in a strong position to ride it out.”

Founded 13 years ago, the national operator has been busy working around the M25 corridor and on the Isle of Portland, off Dorset, for the past two years. The latter involved a £9.7 million contract to deliver two bulk sheds, while continuing on local commercial and industrial jobs.

David Coombe, fellow director, said: “It is a very positive position to be in to have such a lot of work on the order books before the start of the year, it is very important for us.

“We always look to use local labour, local to us, our supply chain, and also local to the sites. For cladding, electrical, doors, we have our trusted contacts, then a team of 20 in-house of various trades.

“We’ve also just taken on a new senior contracts manager, so we’re set up and raring to go.”
