One hundred and twenty-two people declared candidacies for federal or statewide offices in the past week, 74 more than last week. All of these candidates declared before their state’s official filing deadline.
Sixty of those candidates were Democratic, while 52 were Republican. Ten are minor-party candidates or running without affiliation.
Eighty-eight candidates are running for Congress, 23 for state legislatures, three for governorship, one for state court, and seven for a lower state executive office.
