UTTARKASHI: A 12-year-boy died and four others sustained injuries after the pickup vehicle they were traveling in fell into a gorge from Gorsali-Jakhol road in Uttarkashi district on Tuesday evening.
According to TOI sources, all passengers were residents of Gorsali village. They were going to Jakhol when the vehicle fell into a 30-meter deep gorge. Soon after the accident, locals and police began a rescue operation. The injured were rushed to a nearby health centre.
Divulging further details, Devendra Patwal, district disaster management officer, said, "The victim boy, identified as Sujal Singh, died on the spot. His body has been sent for postmortem examination. The injured are being treated at the district hospital."
