12 Alton Towers rides we've loved and lost through the years

Guests at Alton Towers Resort will take one last heart-pounding ride one the legendary Nemesis this Sunday, November 6.

But fans need not worry, as the popular ride is closing down for a revamp and will return in 2024. Europe's first inverted rollercoaster, Nemesis first opened in 1994 and quickly became a favourite for Alton Towers lovers.

Over the years, thousands of us across Merseyside and beyond have enjoyed a day out at the theme park and resort in Staffordshire and enjoyed riding some of the UK's best rollercoasters. But since Alton Towers opening in the 1980s, we have also said farewell to a number of attractions.
