KANCHANABURI: Patrols from the Surasee Task Force arrested 110 Myanmar job seekers who illegally entered the country through natural border crossings into Muang, Thong Pha Phum and Sai Yok districts on Monday and Tuesday.
Two groups of job seekers were arrested on Monday. The first group of 35 were rounded up at 5.05pm from Moo 2 village and the other group of 19 were caught at 6pm near Moo 12 village in tambon Ban Kao of Muang district.
On Tuesday, 17 border crossers were arrested at 5.35am at Kroeng Krawia, the Moo 2 village in tambon Chalae of Thong Pha Phum district.
About 7.30am, a group 25 were arrested at Ban Bongti Bon, the Moo 1 village, and another group of four were caught at 1.30pm at Ban Bongti Lang, the Moo 2 village, in tambon Bongti of Sai Yok district.
To conclude, 110 job seekers - 75 men and 35 women - were arrested on Monday and Tuesday.
They were from Mawlamyine, Yangon, Bago and Rakhine townships in Myanmar, destined for workplaces in Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Kanchanaburi and Bangkok. Some had paid 15,000-20,000 baht each to brokers while others would pay on arriving at the destinations.
All confessed to entering the country illegally. They were handed over to Muang, Thong Phaphum and Sai Yok police stations for legal proceedings, pending deportation.
