The Grand National got underway on Thursday, under a sunny but windy sky at Aintree.
Gates opened at 11am, with the first race starting at 1.45pm and the last race concluding at 5.15pm, and hoards of keen visitors were seen making their way through the gates of the world-famous race course early on in the day.
While the event is hugely popular, it's often said to be as much about the fashion as about the horse racing. People get up early to get their gladrags on and make sure they're looking their best.

ECHO reporters and photographers are live on the Aintree Racecourse and have seen an array of incredible outfits. The Jockey Club has abandoned its previous dress code and while some have opted for more casually stylish clothes, many made sure they wore their best suits.
