An explosion at a business in Louisville, Kentucky, resulted in at least 11 employees being taken to hospitals on Tuesday. The incident occurred at a facility that specializes in producing natural color for foods and drinks. News footage revealed significant damage to the industrial building, with the middle section burned and partially collapsed.
According to Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, the cause of the explosion remains unknown. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported as a result of the blast. Greenberg mentioned that employees inside the plant indicated that everything was normal before the explosion took place.
Following the incident, Louisville Fire Chief Brian O’Neill stated that air monitoring was promptly initiated. He reassured the public that there were no signs of chemical issues in the air within the vicinity. O’Neill acknowledged that the exact nature of any potential leaks was still being investigated, but he advised residents to remain calm.
Initially, Louisville Metro Emergency Services advised individuals within a one-mile radius of the business to shelter in place as a precautionary measure. However, this directive was lifted approximately two hours after the explosion occurred.
