Millions of people claiming disability benefits will start to receive a one-off payment of £150 from Tuesday, June 20, as part of the next wave of cost of living support from the UK Government. Payments will be made automatically by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to eligible claimants, including those in Scotland claiming Child or Adult Disability Payment.
While there is no published rollout plan, it is expected that payments will be made in daily batches similar to the recent £301 for those on means-tested benefits. One thing we can assume from all the cost of living payments delivered by the DWP during 2022/23 so far, is that there will be no weekend payments - Monday to Friday only.
It’s also worth remembering that unlike the means-tested cost of living payment, the £150 will be paid per claimant, not per claim. This means every person - of any age - living in the same household in receipt of a qualifying disability benefit on April 1, will receive a payment.
