A lottery winner has revealed the unusual way he has been spending the cash - on carp for his fish farm.
Dave Dawes struck lucky when he landed the £101million jackpot on the EuroMillions in 2011, and has since been enjoying life spending part of his winnings on his love for fishing.
The 59-year-old angling enthusiast has seen no need to scale back on his hobby, importing £10k' worth of carp a year for the lake on his estate in Kent, where he lives with wife Angela, 55.
Now 12 years on from Mr Dawes' big win, friends say he spends all day fishing by the lake which is packed full of whoppers, and even encourages his grounds staff to down tools, grab a rod and join him.
"Dave fishes all day and is so generous he often ropes his staff into joining him," a friend told The Sun.
"He’s just a brilliant bloke like that.
"You can’t blame someone for pursuing their passion when they’ve won money like that."
So keen on the fishing way of life is Dave, that he has also reportedly applied for permission to build new tracks around his land in order to reach other ponds.
"He’s definitely an eccentric figure," a neighbour said. "I’ve heard he spends all day fishing.
"It sounds like a dream life."
Another said: "It’s definitely not a shock that he imports fish. It fits the flashes of his personality I’ve experienced."
Dave and Angela have been on the estate since 2017, although reportedly own a second home in Cobham, Surrey, which went on the market last year for a suave £9m, before being taken off due to difficulties selling.
Complete with a pool tiled with the Chelsea FC emblem, the seven-bed 13,000 square feet pile near Dave's beloved club's training grounds has failed to attract a buyer.
Before winning the lottery in 2011, Dave had been a factory worker for Premier Foods, while Angela was volunteering for the British Heart Foundation.
The couple had only ever played the lottery twice, so couldn't believe their luck when their numbers were called.
They spent their winnings on an array of luxury items and donated some to family members, going on to buy expensive property.
