1000-lb Sisters stars Tammy and Amy Slaton have been called a "breath of fresh air" amid "unrelatable" reality shows.
The TLC stars have been praised by viewers for being "real" about their lives as fans hit out at programmes such as The Kardashians.
Tammy and Amy have gained a loyal following as they showcased their weight loss journeys on 1000-lb Sisters, opening up about their worries and struggles along the way.
Taking to Reddit, one fan said the stars are "admirable" and admitted watching 1000-lb Sisters is "much more satisfying" than the Kardashians.
Insisting they weren't "directly comparing them as people", the fan wrote: "I’m just saying shows like 1000 lb sisters are a breath of fresh air compared to a show featuring unrelatable rich people."
They said it was "fun" to watch rich people as a teenager when they didn't have to pay bills, but admitted that all changed when they grew up.
They continued: "Now as a thirty something I know what it’s like to have to juggle bad mental health on top of barely making ends meet and having to deny yourself almost any kind of treat.
"I'm better off now but I’ve been through that struggle. It makes watching Kim spend 20k in a single shopping spree hit different."
They finished their post writing: "Watching two people at the bottom better themselves on multiple fronts is so much more satisfying and admirable."
Other fans agreed with the Reddit user, with one person commenting: "Imo the fakeness of Kardashian’s type reality show is done it’s old it’s dry. Realness is much more interesting."
"You summed this up beautifully. For me it extends to the real housewives too," another said.
Gushing over the siblings, a third fan commented: "Plus the slatons are good energy, funny, goofy, I wish they were my siblings lol."
However, some people came to the defence of the Kardashians and said there is room for both.
"The Kardashians and REal Housewives have their market audience and shows like 1000 lb Sisters/Friends have theirs," one person wrote.
Another agreed: "I think there's room for both. There's an element of escapism in watching the rich people's luxurious lives, I dunno, more like selling sunset maybe.
"All I know is shows like 1000lb sisters or sister wives are interesting to me on a personal level to follow their stories, whereas I would more watch something like Kardashians for visual aesthetics and whatnot."
