£100,000 Audi seized by police in Nottingham after 'loud revving and swerving in and out of traffic'

An Audi worth £100,000 has been seized by police in Nottingham city centre after it was allegedly seen being driven in an anti-social manner.

Canning Circus Police on their Facebook page say a bright yellow Audi R8 Spyder sped past officers, loudly revved its engine, swerved in and out of traffic and accelerated aggressively from junctions.

Police officers then followed the Audi and caught up with the driver to speak to them.

The person driving the R8 had been issued a Section 59 notice a few weeks ago due to alleged anti-social and careless driving on that occasion, police said.

Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 states if a motor vehicle is being driven on a road or other public place and is likely to cause alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public, then the vehicle and driver of that vehicle can be issued a notice.

And as the person had previously been issued with a notice, the Audi was seized at the roadside.
