A 10-year-old girl who died after collapsing at school was "beautiful inside and out", her family has said. Rai-Leyah Parveen Jayne Saddique died suddenly after taking ill despite desperate efforts to save her life.
Now her family has paid tribute to the youngster they say was a "genuinely good girl". And they say the death of their "precious princess" has had a major impact on those she has left behind, reports Yorkshire Live.
Posting on a fundraising page her aunts Leanne and Lisa said: "The devastation of losing such a precious princess at such a young age has had a massive impact on so many people who loved, adored and cherished her. Rai-Leyah was the kindest, sweetest and funniest girl you could ever hope to meet.
"She was so loved by all who knew her. She was full of energy and joy living life to the fullest. She was always throwing herself about tumbling around showing off her fab gymnastics skills. Rai-Leyah was fearless in racing the boys and being competitive.
"She embodied the spirit of inclusivity without even realising it. Fly high our angel - until the day you are reunited with your loved ones. God bless you sweetheart."
Rai-Leyah died on November 14 last year, just days after collapsing at her school in Wakefield. She was taken to the town's Pinderfields Hospital but transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where she sadly died.
A family spokesman said at the time it was believed the youngster had suffered a brain haemorrhage. She was described as previously fit and healthy.
Hundreds of people attended the funeral at Jamia Masjid Swafia mosque on Park Lodge Lane in Wakefield which was followed by a burial service at Wakefield Cemetery on Sugar Lane.
Following the youngster's tragic death, members of her family set up a fundraiser to help raise money for a memorial bench and to try to take some stress off her parents, Natalie and Asif. Her auntie Leanne is hoping to raise £3,000.
Leanne and her sister Lisa are taking part in dry January and finishing the challenge with a 10k run, dedicated to Rai.-Leyah. Posting on the gofundme page Leanne said the loss was devastating and her neice had had a huge impact on all those around her.
She added: "Rai-Leyha’s mum Natalie, brother, sister and nanna will receive all funds raised. As the family continue to support them emotionally through this difficult time we hope this will help support them financially to alleviate any additional stress, we’d also like to raise money for a memorial bench which will be placed by Rai-Leyah’s graveside."
