It’s always nice to go out for some tasty pub grub as a family as a change from cooking tea.
But if you’ve got kids who can’t sit still for a second it’s better if you can find a place where the kids can play until their food arrives.
Luckily, there's no shortage of great pubs locally which boast delicious kids menus and on site soft play areas that are sure to keep the little ones entertained during your family meal out.

As well as pubs with impressive indoor play areas, there are also plenty with outdoor play structures and dining areas, ideal for making the most of the sunshine.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of pubs with awesome indoor and outdoor play areas in Liverpool and beyond.
1. Game Bird
The Game Bird is a family friendly restaurant next to the A580. Why not bring the kids for a day out and relax with a coffee inside the Wacky Warehouse? It's £4.50 per child for 90 minutes. Under ones and adults go free.
The Wacky Warehouse is open from 9am until 7pm from Sunday to Thursday and 9am until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The menu includes delicious family favourites such as all day breakfasts, burgers and fish and chips, with a different deal on the menu every day.
If it’s nice then soak up the sun in the beer garden and grab a drink from the outside bar while the kids burn off some energy in the outside play area with sensory equipment. The pub is dog friendly.

2. Brewers Fayre Chapel Brook
Close to the M62 & M57 for good travel links, the Chapel Brook is also close to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Anfield, Goodison & Knowsley Safari Park - ideal for family days out! There is a garden, free parking and a Fun Factory for kids which includes slides and soft play area.
The indoor kids play area is open every day from 12pm to 7pm, with plenty of space for little ones to have fun and burn off some energy. There are also plenty of other fun activities for the kids to get involved with. Get playful at messy plan, let their creative side our with a craft morning, have a boogie at the kids disco and rhythm and rhyme sessions or join in with kids quizzes and bingo.

3. Pollards Inn
Nestled in leafy Willaston Village, Wirral, the Pollards Inn restaurant, bar and hotel boasts beautiful gardens and a delicious gastropub menu. Traditional meals are on offer along with some of the restaurant's own creations.
The pub and restaurant are set within a picturesque 16th century building. The large beer garden makes it an ideal choice for enjoying a sunny day outside.
It has an outdoor adventure play area, including slides, cargo nets and tyres - plenty for the kids to climb on and burn off some energy after dinner. Dogs are welcome inside the bar and dining area.
For those who are looking to enjoy a post-meal walk, the gastropub adjoins the Wirral Way, which is excellent for walkers with children and dogs.

4. The Black Bull
The Black Bull is a child friendly pub with a children's menu and indoor and outdoor play areas. There is also a range of additional children's entertainment on offer during the year, including clown, disco and animal shows.

5. Beefeater Glegg Arms
The Glegg Arms in Heswall is a Beefeater pub and has a large children's outdoor play area with a slide and climbing frame. The kids menu is full of much-loved favourite dishes, so they're sure to find something they love. The pub has an outdoor dining area - perfect for a sunny day.

6. Brewers Fayre Burleydam
The Burleydam dates back to at least 1850 and has had many guises over the years, including a private residence, a nightclub and comedy venue. Today, it is a family friendly pub restaurant, close to Cheshire Oaks, Chester Zoo, and Liverpool city centre.
The pub also has a soft play area which is open every day from 12pm to 7pm - perfect for keeping the little ones entertained. While the kids burn off energy, parents can relax with unlimited coffee for £4. There's plenty more fun packed activities on offer, including craft sessions, kids' quizzes and disco sessions.

7. Red Lion
The Red Lion offers families tasty pub classic meals, burgers, light bites and a kids menu. The pub is a 10-minute drive from junction eight on the M62 and has a spacious decking area, free parking and wide selection of drinks. There's plenty to keep the kids entertained too, thanks to the Fuzzy Ed's Play Barn indoor play area.

8. Lymewood Farm
The pub serves up carvery meals up through the week and weekends and has a children's menu too. There is an indoor kids play area with play equipment and a range of toys and consoles. The pub also has a specially designed dining area for familues, as well as separate children's toilets.

9. Hickory's Smokehouse
Kids make the atmosphere at Hickory’s, where the younger diners are VIKs (Very Important Kids). They have their own personal kids menu, they can relax and watch a film in their very own cinema room or, if the weather is nice (fingers crossed), they can explore the outdoor play areas.

10. Brewers Fayre Ocean Plaza
The Ocean Plaza pub and restaurant has plenty of fun activities for the kids to enjoy. It is very close to Southport Pleasureland, Lakeside Miniature Railway and the shops on Lord Street and features a huge kids' play zone.
