10 days until Irish bills rocket - here's everything jumping in price as households in for shock

Irish energy bills are set to rocket in just 10 days time with price hikes to come in from several suppliers.

From October 1, Electric Ireland, PrepayPower, Community Power, and SSE Airtricity will all increase their electricity and gas prices.

Millions of Irish customers will be hit with this latest cost of living blow just as we approach Christmas.

And thousands more will be affected in further planned increases later this year from Energia and Bord Gais Energy.

The price hikes, which will add hundreds a year onto household bills, have been blamed on the international energy crisis with “unprecedented” and “volatile” increases in wholesale market prices.

So how much will your electricity and gas bill increase by? Here we have broken down the increases from each supplier:

Electric Ireland

State-owned supplier Electric Ireland will hike residential electricity bills by 26.7 per cent and gas bills by 37.5 per cent from October 1.

The rises will equate to €37.20 per month on the average residential electricity bill and €42.99 per month on the average residential gas bill.

This is the third time Electric Ireland has upped its prices this year.

PrepayPower

Energy provider PrepayPower will increase its electricity prices by 19 per cent, while gas prices will rise by 29 per cent from October 1.

This will result in an additional €28.25 per month on the average electricity bill and €35.66 per month on the average residential gas bill.

Community Power

Electricity provider Community Power has announced that their customers will see an increase of approximately 38 per cent on their electricity bills from October 1.

The rise will equate to €60.46 per month on the average residential electricity bill.

SSE Airtricity

SSE Airtricity will increase their electricity rates by 45.2 per cent and gas rates by 46.3 per cent from October 1.

For customers, the price hike will add approximately €49 per month on the average electricity bill and €42 per month on the average residential gas bill.

Bord Gais Energy

Bord Gais Energy will increase their electricity and gas rates from October 2. This will see their electricity rates increase by 48.6 per cent and gas rates increased by 45.7 per cent.

For customers, the price hike will mean the average residential electricity bill will rise by €48.25 per month while the average residential gas bill will rise by €43.80 per month.

Energia

From October 7, Energia will increase electricity rates by 33.5 per cent and gas rates by 47.11 per cent.
