Summer holidays are on Scot's minds once again after two years of Covid travel rules put plans on hold.
Now that restrictions are lifting and the weather is improving, it will no doubt be a busy summer season for popular holiday destinations.
This is why June can be a great holiday month for those who are not committed to school calendars. It is a month where the sun is out in many hotspots like Turkey, Portugal, and Croatia, and many more.
Also, it is a good time to avoid the crowds and expense tied to the peak holiday season.
To help you make plans, the Mirror has listed 10 of the best places for a sunny holiday in June.
1. Portugal
Portugal has long been a firm favourite with Brits thanks to those ridiculously beautiful beaches, brilliant hotels and the plethora of bars and restaurants on offer.
Lisbon is great if you're after a city with a buzz as well as brilliant views, while those after lazy beach days will want to head to the Algarve which is renowned for its beautiful sandy shores and coastal resorts.
In June, temperatures in hotspots can reach 28C which is perfect for those who want to laze by the sea, but you may want to pack some layers for the evenings as temperatures can drop to 20C once the sun has set.
2. Greece
Temperatures on mainland Greece in June can be around 28C, which is ideal if you're planning to hit some of the incredible Greek beaches, although still not too hot if you're hoping to go exploring the likes of Athens.
The Greek islands including popular hotspots like Santorini and Rhodes tend to have similar weather to the mainland, although it can get a bit cooler in the evening so it's worth throwing a jumper or two into your suitcase.

3. Spain
Come June, Spain usually has hot and sunny days (around 32C) but cooler evenings, sometimes as chilly as 14C, so pack plenty of layers.
The chance of a sunny day outweighs the risk of rainy days, and with those hot daily temperatures it can be the ideal weather for making the most of Spain's best beaches.
4. The Canary Islands
You may want to consider a trip to the Canary Islands, where temperatures can reach around 26C in the day and fall to 19C once the sun has set - ideal weather if you're looking to spend some time lazing by the pool, exploring the bustling promenades and having a cheeky sunset cocktail or two!

5. Mexico
If you're thinking of a long-haul trip come summer, it's worth having Mexico on the radar. The weather in June is hot and sunny, with averages of around 32C in the day and 25C in the evenings, so you can make the most of the balmy temperatures throughout your whole trip.

By June, temperatures in Cyprus can reach up to 31C, so it's already a firm favourite for sun-seekers wanting to spend days basking in the warmth on a sandy beach.
Talking of beaches, Cyprus delivers with plenty of great beaches that offer sun loungers, golden sands and swim-friendly waters. You'll also find plenty of waterfront restaurants, harbours filled with shops and bars, and a wide array of hotels to cater to every budget.
It's ideal for those looking for a bit of atmosphere as although you'll avoid the peak season crowds, there's still plenty of buzz around the island!
7. Italy
Italy boasts some balmy weather in June, which can be ideal whether you're planning a city break in the likes of Rome or Pisa, or you're hoping to explore the colourful towns to be found along the Amalfi Coast.
Expect day time peaks of 25C, while in the evening it can be between 16-20C.
June can also be a great time for exploring the likes of Lake Como or Lake Garda as the peak summer crowds haven't yet arrived, meaning more space to wander through the picturesque villages, take on the hiking trails or even enjoy a boat trip out on those azure waters.
8. Malta
Malta's weather in June tends to be hot and sunny with daily averages of around 28C in the day.
There's heaps for intrepid explorers to discover from ancient temples and scenic coastal views, to the buzz to be found in capital city Valletta.
Here you'll find some brilliant restaurants, picturesque views and plenty of fascinating museums and historic sites to fill up the itinerary.

Croatia starts to get some hot and sunny weather in June, and the conditions are ideal if you're planning to spend a day hiking around one of its amazing national parks, or soaking up the culture in its bustling cities.

10. Turkey
With average temperatures of around 25C during the daytime, the weather is already warming up in June.
You can find a wide array of accommodation whether you're after an all-inclusive beach resort, or want a budget-friendly self-catered home to use as a base for exploring the bustling marinas or beautiful national parks.
