Instant cameras are a fun way to capture moments in a way that digital cameras just can’t. They not only capture the moment, but also produce a physical print for you to take away. What’s not to like? There’s also a little bit of magic in the format, with the whirr of the internal motors before the blank print pops out and the image develops from nothing in front of your eyes.
I’ve been using instant cameras for a few decades, from the oversized models of the 1980s, through to the ones built for the modern day. I have, in the past, briefly fitted a Polaroid back to one of my Hasselblad 500C’s to get an instant idea of the composition of the scene before me.
