Gurugram: An 85-year-old woman succumbed to Covid on Friday. This is the second consecutive day when the city witnessed a Covid death. The deceased is an 85-year-old woman, who was admitted with fever, cough and shortness of breath to a private hospital on July 20. The patient tested positive at the hospital and had commodities like diabetics and hypertension, health department officials said.
“The patient was managed with fluids, antibiotics, oxygen support and other supportive measures. She was also on oxygen support and suddenly had a cardiac arrest on Friday afternoon but could not be revived even after initiating CPR,” according to the doctors at the hospital.
Eighty-six people succumbed to the infection this year alone, while the toll since the Covid-19 outbreak has touched 1,013. Of these, 687 had comorbidities, shows the health department data.
The city reported 257 new Covid cases on Friday. Positivity rate rose to 6.2% from 5% recorded on Thursday. The city currently has 819 active cases, of whom 8 patients are hospitalised.
The health department conducted 4,133 tests on Friday, while 3,853 samples were tested on Thursday.
The city logged a total of 5,016 in July so far, it had a total of 8,046 cases in June, compared to 7,619 in May and 5,894 in April.
Meanwhile, Haryana witnessed 689 new cases on Friday. The state now has 2,928 active cases while the positivity rate is at 4.8%. One death was reported in the state, 492 patients recovered during the day. In the past 24 hours, the health authorities collected 14,758 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,28,736 samples have been found to be positive in Haryana. Yamunanagar and Panchkula have emerged as new hotspots in the state. Gurgaon reported the highest number of cases, followed by 95 cases in Panchkula, 66 cases in Faridabad and 50 cases in Yamunanagar.
