MANGALURU: Customs at the Mangaluru International Airport seized 1.1 kg of 24 ct purity gold, valued at Rs 60.2 lakh, from a male passenger on Sunday. The passenger, hailing from Kasaragod, Kerala, arrived from Dubai, by an IndiGo flight, at 3.30pm on Sunday.
The gold was packed in four oval shaped packets in paste form, mixed with solid gum. The passenger was attempting to smuggle it, by concealing it in his rectum. An investigation is on.
