While some believe the Chicago Bulls may be better off hitting the reset button and rebuilding the roster this summer, Arturas Karnisovas seems determined to run it back. He wants to keep the current core together and push for a playoff spot next season after getting bounced in the Play-In Tournament this past year.
If that’s his goal, Chicago will need to add some serious help around the edges. The Big Three of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic is solid, but they need help. Adding quality players in free agency will be essential if the Bulls want to compete for a postseason spot next season.
As the Bulls seek help in free agency this summer, here is one potential target they could look to steal from each of their four division rivals.
1 free agent the Chicago Bulls could steal from each division rival: Joe Ingles, Milwaukee Bucks
Joe Ingles will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and while he’ll be 36 years old by the start of next season, he would still be a great addition to Chicago’s lineup. He’s the perfect 3&D player and stealing him from the Milwaukee Bucks would be a huge success for the Bulls.
1 free agent the Chicago Bulls could steal from each division rival: Danny Green, Cleveland Cavaliers
At this point in his career, Danny Green probably isn’t an every-night player. However, that might mean the Cleveland Cavaliers could let him walk. For a Bulls squad that could use some wing help, Green would provide a nice veteran presence, especially in the regular season.
1 free agent the Chicago Bulls could steal from each division rival: George Hill, Indiana Pacers
With Lonzo Ball‘s unfortunate injury luck, the Bulls need point guard help. Bringing back Patrick Beverley should be a top priority, but if he leaves, stealing George Hill from the Indiana Pacers would be a solid pick-up for Chicago. He wouldn’t have to play every night, but his veteran presence and steady hand could make him a decent fit.
1 free agent the Chicago Bulls could steal from each division rival: Hamidou Diallo, Detroit Pistons
Hamidou Diallo isn’t a veteran who will contribute to winning, but he is a young player the Bulls could take a chance on. Adding some youth at the wing position could be worthwhile, but Diallo would need to improve his three-point stroke. And with how much youth the Detroit Pistons have on their roster, they may be willing to let Diallo walk.
It wouldn’t be the perfect addition for the Bulls, but Diallo definitely comes with a certain level of intrigue.
