Fines for dog fouling could see a massive increase under a proposed new legislation introduced by a Dublin TD.
TD Patrick Costello is proposing a fine of €1,500 for those who do not clean up after their dog, jumping from €150. The Dublin-South Central TD said the hefty fine proposed would act as a deterrent to those who are failing to "scoop the poop".
Deputy Costello said: “This is an issue which has blighted communities across the country for many years. Since I entered politics in 2014 dog poo has been the single most repeated complaint to me when speaking to constituents. It’s on their streets, in their parks and on the footpaths outside their local businesses.”
