1.5 lakh sq ft tech research park inaugurated at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A Technology Research Park (TRP) of about 1.5 lakh sq. ft was inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) on Saturday.

Srivari Chandrasekhar, secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India (GoI), inaugurated the TRP facility, which aims at providing infrastructure and facilities for industry partners to co-locate research and technology development centres at the IIT-H campus.

“The government of India is committed to technological development as presented by the Union finance minister during budget, 2022. Hyderabad is a very vibrant entrepreneur ecosystem. These TRP and TIP (Technology Incubation Park) buildings are testimonial facilities for those who can’t work from home,” said Chandrasekhar. He urged the youth to go from being ‘job-seekers’ to ‘job-givers’ and all premier institutes to work more on non-software technologies. “IITs are pioneer technological institutes in the country, and IIT-H is exceptional among them,” he added.

Funded by the Ministry of Education, GoI with 75 crore towards capital expenses, the 1.5 lakh sq. ft. building will feature facilities on a par with global standards. The TRP at IIT-H is administered as an independent section 8 company, founded, promoted & hosted by IIT-H and industry professionals to bring the industry close to IIT-H so that innovative technologies through collaboration can be developed.

BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman, BoG, IIT-H, requested Chandrasekhar to increase public funding for research and incentivise the industry to invest in technology.
