PATIALA: Punjab State Load Dispatch Center (SLDC) has got the available transfer capacity /total transfer capacity (ATC/TTC) limits enhanced to 8,500/9,000MW from the present limit of 7,100/7,700 MW for the upcoming paddy season. The duration of enhancement in the limits has been fixed from June 10 to September 30.
Power System Operating Corporation, India (POSOCO) in its letter issued on Monday has sanctioned the new ATC/TTC limits for Punjab. The limits will be operative after the completion of certain ongoing transmission works in the Punjab control area.
Yogesh Tandon, director, technical, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) said the related ongoing transmission works at Rajpura, Ludhiana and Jalandhar will be completed by May 31 this year and that the enhanced limits of 8,500/9,000 MW shall be activated well before the start of paddy season in June. He further said that a lot of effort had gone into getting the ATC/TTC limits increased.
Tandon added, “Vigorous follow up had to be done with central agencies and utilities like PGCIL, NRPC, NLDC, NRLDC and POSOCO for getting the augmentations and additions in the transmission system in Punjab control area approved and executed, as well as release of Power Sector Development Fund (PSDF) for augmentation of 220KV lines ACSR with high temperature low sag (HTLS) for which contribution of A Venu Parsad, additional chief secretary to CM and CMD PSTCL has been tremendous. With this increase in ATC state will be able to meet the maximum demand of 15,500MW withdrawl of 8,500 MW ISTS power and 7,000 MW of own generation”.
