Authorities in Atlanta are seeking information related to a tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two 13-year-old boys and the injury of an 11-year-old boy. The incident took place in the Oakland City neighborhood, where the victims were struck by bullets in a heartbreaking turn of events.
The 13-year-old boys, Lamon Freeman and Ja'Kody Davis, were fatally shot, while Ja'Kody's younger brother, 11-year-old Dontavious Davis, sustained injuries and is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police responded to reports of juveniles being shot at an apartment complex on Sparks Street SW around 12:36 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the three young boys with gunshot wounds. Tragically, one of the 13-year-olds was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital.
According to Homicide Unit Commander Lt. Andrew Smith, the shooting occurred in a stairwell outside individual residences, rather than inside an apartment. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the triple shooting. However, a $50,000 reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta and the Atlanta police's Homicide Unit for any information that could lead to an arrest in the case.
