Los Angeles mayoral candidate and former The Hills star Spencer Pratt’s political aspirations appear to have been halted — for now.
Pratt, 42, finished third in the June 2 primary race, according to Monday polling data from the Associated Press. He broke his social media silence Tuesday by posting a cryptic photo of a lone duck sailing across a body of water at sunset.
In the comments section, followers speculated on what the image might mean, with one person commenting: “Cool on top, fighting underneath.”
“Lame duck?” another asked.
“Like water off a duck's back,” wrote a third.

Someone else interpreted the photo to mean, “Calm on top, working like crazy behind the scenes. Keep it up man. We are all pulling for you.”
Pratt initially held a lead over progressive city council member Nithya Raman in the battle for second place, both behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, who was declared the winner. However, as the counting continued, Raman steadily ate into his advantage and now finds herself on 28.5 percent of the vote, compared to Pratt’s 25.8 percent, in a blow to the registered Republican who said he was running as an independent.
The Associated Press called the race Monday, with Pratt finishing third. Raman will face Bass in November’s run-off election to determine the next mayor of Los Angeles.
Pratt jumped into the LA mayoral race in January, announcing his candidacy at a “They Let Us Burn” rally in the Palisades Village, a year after his house burned down in the devastating 2025 wildfires. His campaign gained national attention with repeated attacks on Bass and her response to the wildfires, even garnering support from Donald Trump.
In the days leading up to the primary, Pratt revealed some of the Hollywood heavyweights whose support he claims to have received, telling US Weekly: “Usually I don’t name-drop, but I had two of my favorite people ever support me. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx both said, ‘Please, Mr. Mayor, we want these streets safe again.’ If their reps try to deny this happened, I have multiple witnesses. It was an out-of-body experience.”
However,The Independent understands that DiCaprio has not publicly or privately endorsed any candidate, and did not hear from Foxx’s representative.
It is not yet clear whether Pratt will continue his foray into politics.
