Police audio captures chaos after shots fired at Rihanna mansion

Audio from a police dispatch has revealed a desperate scene during the search for the shooter at Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion on Sunday.

In the audio from the call from the Los Angeles West Division, dispatchers can be heard frantically saying a number of shots had been fired at the home.

Police were responding to reports of gunfire at around 1.15pm on Sunday, eventually arresting Ivanna Ortiz, 35, and charging her with attempted murder.

The LAPD have since confirmed that between five and seven shots were fired, managing to hit the gate of the property, but not the actual house.

Rihanna, real name Robyn Fenty, was reportedly in her home at the time, but is thought to be unharmed.

Ortiz, from Florida, reportedly fired shots at the pop star’s Heather Road mansion from her car with an AR-15-style rifle, and is now being held on a $10.2 million bail after being arrested around eight miles from the scene.

In the 911 audio, a dispatcher is heard announcing that the suspect was believed to be driving in a white Tesla, before adding that no one at the scene had a clear visual of the suspect.

There is also some confusion regarding how many bullets were fired, the precise model of the Tesla and the car's license plate during the call.

Later in the call, an update is given that the Tesla was believed to be using temporary paper license plates, to help prevent identification while they searched for the suspect vehicle.

Further details are revealed during the call, with the police hearing that the suspect has her hair in braids and is wearing a cream blouse, with the license plate number also obtained.

A police helicopter then caught sight of the vehicle in a parking lot, where Ortiz was arrested.

Ortiz had reportedly made disturbing threats directed toward Rihanna just days before the incident, and she had previous arrests for domestic violence, careless driving and violating pretrial release conditions in Florida.

Authorities have not confirmed Ortiz’s motive for the attack, while a source close to Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, told The New York Post that the two “don't know much” and were left in the dark as to what happened.

It is believed that Rocky was not home at the time, but is is unclear if the couple's three children, RZA, three, Riot, two, and Rocki, five months, were at home when the incident occurred.

Police have confirmed that the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating the incident.

Armen Arias, an LAPD spokesperson, told The LA Times, “When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings.”

He also confirmed that police found bullet holes in a gate at Rihanna’s mansion, and in an RV parked in the driveway.

The police have reportedly blocked off the street outside the home as well as taping up the $14million mansion.

Rihanna and Rocky purchased the house, which features an open-air courtyard, pool, five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, in 2021.

Others who own properties in the neighbourhood include Paul McCartney, Madonna and Mariah Carey.
